Bio
: Dr. Will F. Waterfield began his career with Lederle Laboratories (Pearl River, NY) in recombinant viral research and development. (Lederle became part of Wyeth, now Pfizer.) Three years later, he moved to commercial operations and optimized polio manufacturing, and then he directed commercial operations for nine years.

He was Lead on the design, construction, start up, commissioning, and licensure of Prevenar, a Pfizer vaccine for infants and children against diseases caused by
S. pneumonia, including sepsis, meningitis, pneumonia, otitis media, and bacteraemia. Subsequently, he left commercial operations, and created the Manufacturing Science and Technology groups (in Pearl River, NY, Sanford, NC, and Andover, MA) to fix Prevenar supply issues.

Today, Dr. Waterfield leads innovation and process optimization in this Pfizer group, now known as the Bio-Manufacturing Science Group (BSG).

He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Maryland (College Park, MD), and his post-doctoral education at the Gamble Institute of Medical Research (Cincinnati).
