Waste Mgmt Hierarchy
Topic: Transforming Waste Materials to Energy and Chemicals: An Update on Sustainable Waste Management

Abstract: In November, Dr. Marco Castaldi, Professor at CCNY Chemical Engineering Department, will discuss the impact of the waste or garbage, estimated at nearly four pounds per person, generated in the U.S. daily. “That amount of waste requires all possible solutions to be deployed from reuse to energy recovery and everything in between,” says Castaldi. “Research that has been conducted by my lab group and many other practitioners, researchers, policy makers and municipalities demonstrates there is a preferred hierarchy that should be followed to manage the waste sustainably.”

Speaker: Dr. Marco J. Castaldi, Professor, Chemical Engineering, City College of New York, and Program Director of Earth System Science and Environmental Engineering, and the Earth Engineering Center at CCNY.
